Abstract
812,037. Fuel injection nozzles. ROOSA, V. D. April 8, 1957 [April 13, 1956], No. 11394/57. Class 7(3) A fuel injection valve 34, of smaller diameter than its surrounding bore 28 is supported at one end by a guide plate 48 capable of adjustment laterally of the nozzle axis and at the other end by a guide 42 pivotally mounted in a seat 46. The nozzle tip 40 is centred by a conical surface 52 on a cap nut 50 which clamps the tip 40 and guide plate 48 against the end of the nozzle body 2, the plate 48 being of smaller diameter than the bore of the nut 50 to permit adjustment during assembly laterally of the nozzle axis. The guide sleeve 42 is held against its seat by a spring 49 and the valve is loaded by a spring 66 provided with an adjustable slotted abutment 68 in which is screwed a stop 72 limiting the lift of the valve, the abutment 68 and stop 72 being locked in their adjusted position by a lock nut 76. In assembling the nozzle the valve 34 seated in the nozzle tip 40 correctly aligns the guide plate 48 as the cap nut 50 is screwed home, the sleeve 42 automatically pivoting on its seat to its correctly aligned position.
