Class 39(3) An air heater comprises radiant heating means, a heat exchanger receiving heat from the radiant heating means and transmitting such heat to air flowing through the :exchanger, and a convector flue constituted by a foraminous front screen, side walls, and a rear reflector the flue delivering a substantially horizontal stream of heated air over the top of the front screen. As shown, an air heater comprises a convector flue having side walls c, a rear reflector e, and a foraminous front screen f which has an upper edge supported by a cross bar l and a curved lower portion forming a guard for radiant heaters a a beneath which is located an auxiliary reflector d. A heat exchanger g of foraminous material is disposed above the heaters a a so that incoming air is successively heated by the hot lower portion of the screen f, the heaters a a, and the heat exchanger g. The reflectors d and e which may be formed as a unit with or without side reflectors, reflect heat and light rays through the screen f which may be of stainless steel, of perforated sheet, of expanded metal, or of gauze woven of wire composed of the metal known by the Registered Trade Mark "Monel". It is stated that the horizontal cross sectional area of the flue throughout its height above the heat exchanger should conform with the theoretical reduced cross-sectional area of the accelerated air flow from the heat exchanger.
