Abstract
A photo-conductive material comprises zinc oxide and a film forming substance, and an organic dye which absorbs radiant energy which it transfers to the zinc oxide, to extend the spectral sensitivity range. The material may be used for xerography or photo-conductive cells. In one example, a mixture of 80 gms. of silicone resin solution, 106 gms. of toluol and 120 gms. of white zinc oxide is mixed with a solution of rose bengal dye in methyl alcohol, ball milled, coated upon paper and dried. Many other dyes are mentioned as alternatives including eosin, fluorexin, erythrosin and crystal violet.
