Abstract

810,517. Pipe joints. BRITISH OXYGEN CO. Ltd. Sept. 9, 1957 [Sept. 17, 1956], No. 28376/56. Class 99(1). [Also in Group VI] A pipe joint comprises a hollow resilient body 10 with two ports 11, 12, the axes of which are at right angles, metal tubes 15, 18 rotatably mounted in the ports, and a flange 16 on each tube co-operating with a groove 17 in the port into which it is fitted so that relative axial movement between each tube and the body is prevented. A hollow polythene body portion 10 has two circular ports 11, 12 formed in tubular extensions 13, 14, the axes of which are at right angles to one another. An aperture 21 provided in the body portion 10, opposite one port 12 is normally closed by a metal or polythene plug 22, a hinged or slidable flap, an apertured metal strip slidable in slots in the body portion or a bush so apertured that there is always communication between the ports 11, 12 but having a closing portion which may be rotated into or out of register with the aperture 21.
