Abstract

810,112. Armature winding machines. MIDLAND DYNAMO CO. Ltd. June 7, 1955 [March 8, 1954], No. 6678/54. Class 35. An armature winding machine in which a wire feeding arm rotates about an axis normal to the armature axis has longitudinal wire guides to direct the wire along the slots and end guides to deflect the wire towards the bottoms of the slots and across the armature ends. As shown, the armature A is supported between vertical pivots on spindle 55 in frame 47 carried on a sliding base 46 movable by handle 81 towards and away from the guide surfaces 56, pivotally mounted on rods 60 and from the guides 64, 65 carried on arms 68 carried by sleeve 33 mounted by bearings 32 on the reduced end of shaft 18 which carries the rotating arm for feeding wire from supply 38 via pulleys 39, 40, 43, 25 and 26. The base 46 encloses ratchets to enable armature carrying spindle 55 to be rotated through a desired number of slot pitches. If the armature has slots of different depths, the guides are replaced by others of different shape. Fig. 10, not shown, is a modification. suitable for smaller armatures. In another form, Fig. 11, the armature A3 is supported from a sleeve 134 and has wire guides 135, 143. Specification 606,721 is referred to.
