Abstract

818,524. Lighting attachments for smallarms. PRETORIA PATENT DEVELOPMENT (PROPRIETARY) Ltd. Oct. 7, 1955 [Oct. 7, 1954], No. 28629/55. Class 119 Relates to a sighting attachment for directing a narrow beam of light along the aiming line of a firearm. According to the invention an adjustably mounted electric light bulb 5 with a filament of pinnacle form has a condenser 6 formed in the bulb in front of the filament 7, the condenser 6 being located at the focus of a lens 8 which projects on a narrow beam an image of the filament, the filament being energized by a battery 17 under the control of a spring switch 19 attached to the finger grip of the trigger 20. The bulb 5 is screwed in a holder 10 and is held in place by a screwed stem 11 extending through a slot 12 in an end cap 13. The condenser end of the bulb is supported in a resilient ring 14 and is centralized by means of radially placed screws 15. A switch 23 permits the circuit to be broken when the light is not required. Clips 2, 22, Fig. 1 (not shown) strap the attachment to the barrel of the firearm.
