Abstract
A powdered soap or synthetic detergent composition contains a colouring material in such quantity and in such a fine state of subdivision that the powder is not appreciably coloured, the characteristic colour appearing only when the powder is mixed with water. The colouring material should not contain any particles greater than 50m in size, the average particle size being usually less than 20m and most desirably less than 5m . In an example, Vulcanosol Blue 5G of average particle size 2m is mixed with sodium perborate and the resulting mixture blended with a spray dried powder containing soap, sodium silicate, and a little moisture to yield a creamy-white powder which gives a blue solution in water.
