Abstract
800,195. Air filters. DALLOW, LAMBERT & CO., Ltd. April 18, 1957 [April 19, 1956], No. 11964/56. Class 8(2). An air filter bag 2 of suitable material e.g. drill fabric contains a mattress M comprising a plurality of interengaged helically coiled elements 3 which hold the sides 2a of the bag apart. The bag is preferably suspended with its open end 2b uppermost and the helically coiled elements arranged horizontally. To facilitate insertion of the mattress M into the bag 2, two cords 4 and 5 are threaded freely through all the interengaged eyes 3b, knotted to the uppermost and lowest eyes as indicated at 4a and 5a, threaded horizontally through helicies 3a and loops 6, and tied together beyond the centre of the bag. An embodiment describes the filter bag being of a cylindrical form and various mechanical means for cleaning the bag are described. A dust collector unit comprising a casing 7, with dust laden air inlets 8, exhaust vent 9, fan 10, frame works 11 and 12 has filter bags suspended with their open ends 2b supported by the framework 11 and their closed ends 2c secured to the movable frame 12. To clean the filter bags the handle 17 is oscillated which causes the roller 14, engaging with channels 13 provided on opposite sides of the frame 12 to reciprocate and shake the filter bags.
