Abstract

786,675. Rolling. ROBERTSON & CO., Ltd., W. H. A. July 12, 1956 [Aug. 5, 1955], No. 22566/55. Class 83 (4). In a rolling mill with a reciprocatory roll carriage 9, Figs. 3, 5, including rack and pinions 8, 18 for rotating the rolls 15, the carriage 9 comprises a frame in which a self-contained roll unit 14 is removably mounted. The machine bed 6 carries tracks 7 for rollers 10 on the carriage 9 which is reciprocated by an oscillatory arm 11 through links 12. The roll housing 14 comprises two parts held together by hydraulically pre-stressed bolts 16 and is secured in the carriage 9 by keys, wedges, &c. (not shown).
