Abstract

784,798. Lifts. EXPRESS LIFT CO., Ltd. March 16, 1956 [March 17, 1955], No. 7834/55. Class 78 (3). In a guide assembly for a lift car or counterweight, the or each guide shoe or roller is mounted on an arm 12 which is mounted in the assembly by means of a rubber bush 14 which permit the arm to pivot against force developed by the bush, this force being assisted, in the event of excessive pivoting of the arm, by a spring 27 which is isolated by further rubber bushes 23, 24 from the part 2 of the assembly which is bolted to the car or counterweight. In Fig. 1 the device is shown on a triple roller guide assembly the rubber-tyred rollers 1 of which are rotatably supported on the arms 12 by shafts 11, the bushes 14 being bonded to a pair of metal rings 16, 15 which are a driving fit in the assembly part 2, and on a shaft 13 secured to the arms. Each spring 27 is mounted on a screw 18 which carries an axially slidable collar 26 and a fixed sleeve 32, and which is screwed into a block 28 to adjust the position of the roller with respect to the rail 5. Also secured to arms 12 is a shaft 17 which has a bore slidably mounted on sleeve 32 for limited free movement between collar 26 and a flange 21 on the sleeve. In a modification (Fig. 4, not shown) on each shaft 11 is pivotally mounted a guide-shoe provided with a carbon slipper which is rubber bonded to the body of the shoe. In a further modification (not shown) each assembly may comprise a combination of rollers and shoes.
