Classes 20(1) and 20(4) In a prefabricated building as in Specification 737,653 and 743,781 comprising a self-supporting skeleton framework, consisting of a plurality of rectangular metal frames each of which has at least one pair of channels parallel to each other, to receive wall panels forming inner and outer skins of an outer wall, the parts of the frames which hold the inner skin in position are made of, or entirely covered with, heat insulating material to reduce heat losses from the interior of the building by heat conduction through the frame members. In one form, the frame members are similar to those described in the above Specifications and the metal flanges which overlie the exposed surface of the inner skin of the building are sheathed with a plastic extrusion which fits around the flanges and provides an air space over the surface of the flanges which may be filled with a heat insulating material such as felt or glass wool. In another embodiment, the metal flanges overlying the exposed surface of the inner skin 2 are replaced by an extruded plastic strip having a head portion 11, which engages the panels 2, and an inner enlargement 13 which is slid into a T-slot 10 in the metal frame member 3, the enlargement 13 and head 11 being connected by a web 12. For corner sections of the framework the head is of L-shape, the apex thereof being connected, by the web 12 to the enlargement 13.
