Abstract
776,700. Hasp locks. MONCH, H. K., [trading as MONCH, J.]. May 37,1955 [May 29, 1954], No. 15458/55. Class 44. Relates to fastening devices of the kind comprising a hasp and a co-operating lock having a casing formed with an aperture for receiving a projection of the hasp and having also a spring- loaded latch bolt engageable with a transverse recess formed in the hasp projection and locking means adapted to lock the movement of the latch bolt. According to the invention, the casing includes a first part disposed on one side of a base-plate and a second part disposed on the opposite side of the base-plate, the first part of the casing having mounted therein the latch bolt, and the second part of the casing having mounted therein the locking means which is adapted to engage a stud projecting from the latch bolt into the operative region of the locking means. As shown, a top part 1 adapted to be secured to the flap of a wallet or the like is provided with a bolt 2 having a recess 3 transverse thereto and co-operates with a bottom part comprising an outer case 5 fitted to a baseplate 6. The forward side 8 of the case 5 is provided with a keyhole 9 and a slot 11 to receive the bolt 2. A latch bolt 13 is normally held by a spring 14 in a position in which a bevelled edge 15 lies in the region of a portion 12 of the slot 11 and is provided with an actuating handle 16. A key-operated slider 17 retained on the baseplate 6 by projections 18 of an inner case 19 is so formed that in one position it blocks a pin 24 extending from the latch bolt 13 through a slot 25 in the baseplate 6 and in the other position releases the pin 24 and permits withdrawal of the latch bolt.
