Abstract

766,691. Staiths for loading and unloading. ANDRIANI, N. June 18, 1954 [June 30, 1953], No. 17917/54. Class 78 (4). A jib 17 capable of radial movement relative to a tower 1 carries an endless conveyer 18 for pouring over the end of the jib semi-fluid or pulverulent material raised to the jib from the foot of the tower by a screw-conveyer. As illustrated the jib also carries hoisting tackle 36, 39, 37. The material is raised by a series of screws mounted in the tower and each delivering to the next above. The uppermost screw 5 is mounted on the slewing axis of the jib 17 so that in all positions of the jib it can deliver material to a hopper 11 feeding a screw 6 carried by a slewing frame 12 and delivering to the troughed endless belt 18 the tail wheel 19 of which is driven by a motor mounted in the jib. The jib is mounted to run on rollers 16 in the slewing frame 12 and is extended and retracted by a motor 29 carried by the slewing frame 12 and driving a sheave 31 round which is wrapped a rope 32 secured near the opposite ends of the jib. The jib and frame 12 are slewed by a screw mounted in the tower and engaging a worm carried by the slewing frame 12. The winch 40 for the hoisting gear is driven by a motor 41 carried by the jib.
