Abstract

720,799. Padlocks. MEFINA SOC. ANON. March 10, 1953 [May 20, 1952], No. 6547/53. Class 44. In padlock comprising a sliding and rotatable shackle 1 mounted in a, cylindrical casing 2, and locked by a barrel lock 5, the longer leg of the shackle has a recess 11 in which engages permanently a locking member 12 secured to the barrel 5 and having a notch 14 which allows axial movement of the shackle under the influence of a spring 9 when the barrel is in the unlocked position, the shoulder 15 on the end of the shackle moving into the notch 14. The barrel lock is of the type having plates 16 sliding transversely in the cylinder 5 against the action of ring-shaped springs 17 located in annular grooves 19 in the external surface of the cylinder. Each plate has a central opening 26 into which projects a lug 27 which engages with one or other of the shaped ramps 28 formed on the side of the key.
