Abstract
The improvement in or modification of the process of the parent Specification for the production of peptides from aminoacids or low molecular peptides in which aromatic or aliphatic acylated mercaptans derived from aminoacids or peptides and aromatic or aliphatic mercaptans are reacted with approximately stoichiometric proportions of aminoacids, peptides of lower molecular weight than the peptides to be prepared or their esters. The reaction may be effected in the presence of alcohols or aqueous alcohols, preferably methanol, as solvent. Examples are given of the preparation of carbobenzoxy-glycl-valine, carbobenzoxy glycyl - phenylalanyl - alanine or b -alanine-tripeptide.
