Abstract

699,558. Cables. GLOVER & CO., Ltd., W. T. Jan. 22, 1953 [Jan. 23, 1952], No. 1902/52. Class 36. A wiring cable comprising a flat group of two or three insulated conductors 1 enclosed in a common covering 6 consisting of a textile braid or a flexible rubber or plastic sheath, is provided with one or two flat strips 3 of rigid material which extend lengthwise of the cable and have a width exceeding the distance between the axes of the two outside cores of the group so that the cable is made resistant to bending in the plane in which the cores are disposed. The strips 3 may be of hard, non- brittle metal and have a thickness between 5 and 10 mils. or of a hard, non-brittle plastic and have a thickness between 5 and 20 mils. Where a braided covering is applied the assembly may be held together by a lapping of textile tape applied under the braid. The strips 3 may also serve as earthing conductors, either alone or in association with a further bare conductor, or as a marking strip.
