Class 94(i) [Also in Group XXX] Apparatus for packing apples in boxes comprises a conveyer 15, for transporting graded apples, a receptacle 8 for apples, arranged above the conveyer, a filling station comprising a support stand which includes slideways and supports 22a, 23a, inclined downwardly away from the conveyer, by which the boxes to be filled may be supported while being filled by an operative with apples from the receptacle 8, and slideways 22b, 23b, inclined downwardly towards the conveyer, by which the filled boxes may be slid on the conveyer 15. An upper conveyer 32 is adapted to feed the filled boxes received from the first-mentioned conveyer 15 from a feeding position to a packing and wrapping station at which there is a box support stand 36 comprising slideways and supports 39, inclined downwardly away from the conveyer, by which the filled boxes removed from the conveyer 32 by an operative may be slid downwards from the upper conveyer 32 and supported in front of the operative. Other slideways and supports include slideways 41, inclined downwardly away from the conveyer upon which empty boxes may be supported while they are being filled with apples removed from the filled boxes and wrapped by the operative and supports 40 by which the boxes filled with wrapped apples may be fed on to a lower conveyer 51 arranged below the upper conveyer 32. The conveyers are of the gravity feed roller type. The various stands are adjustable in height, having telescopic supporting legs. The receptacle 8 comprises a flat ratatable bin which is surrounded by a fixed guard 10 with a mouth 13. A modified form of support stand at the packing and wrapping station comprises, Fig. 8, a slideway 66, of the same construction as the slideway 39, having pivotally mounted at 79 adjacent thereto, a slideway 74 adapted in one position, resting on an outer cross member 84, to support a box while it is being filled with wrapped apples, and in another position, resting on an inner cross member, to allow the filled box to slide down on to the lower conveyer.
