Abstract
In a method of making a composite bearing by powder metallurgy [see Group XXII], a copper-plated mild steel backing is spread with a first powder layer comprising equal parts of copper powder, lead bronze powder comprising 80 per cent copper, 10 per cent lead and 10 per cent tin and bronze powder comprising 89 per cent copper and 11 per cent tin and then with a second powder layer each particle of which contains 70 per cent copper and 30 per cent lead. The composition of the final sintered bearing material is 70 per cent copper, 29 per cent lead and 1 per cent tin.
