Abstract
657,613. Ornamenting. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Feb. 21, 1946, No. 5469. [Class 93] [Also in Group XL (a)] In the manufacture of a cathode-ray tube mosaic screen, a mesh comprising bars 7 of triangular cross-section is arranged with the ridges 2 in contact with an insulating surface 3, and metal is evaporated on to the surface through the insterstices of the mesh to form metal elements 8 insulated by a shadow area 9 from the bars 7. The mesh which may or may not be subsequently removed may be of nickel or aluminium and may be insulated, e.g. by anodising the aluminium. The base plate may be of glass or mica and the deposited metal, antimony, a stibide or silver. The mesh may be mounted on the insulating surface by the use of a cement comprising lead borate or lithium borate powder suspended in acetone or water.
