Abstract
654,301. Air heating stoves. NORTH THAMES GAS BOARD. Dec. 22, 1947, Nos. 33856/47 and 7888/48. [Class 64(i)] [Also in Group XI] Relates to fluid-fuel-fired space heaters of the kind having a flue casing 14, Fig. 4, which terminates outside the building to be heated and is internally divided into two separate ducts 12, 13 for the flow of air for combustion and combustion products respectively. According to the invention the combustion takes place within a chamber 10 having a sheet metal wall bearing fins 16, 17 and shaped to form a panel heater which is carried by and in spaced relationship to a back plate 19 for securing to the building wall so that the chamber is surrounded by the air to be heated. A detachable cover 20 directs this air, as indicated by arrows T, from an inlet 21 to a louvred outlet 22. Guide vanes in the combustion chamber 10 may equalize the air flow past a number of gas burners 11 which are lit through an open ended compartment 23 closed by a door 24 hinged to the cover 20. The first Provisional Specification describes also a cover having a false top packed with heat insulating material. Specification 508,634, [Group XI], is referred to.
