[Class 64(i)] '[Also in Group XI] Blast air for a metallurgical or other furnace is heated in two stages, first to 400- 600‹ C, e.g. in a tubular recuperator, and then to a higher temperature, e.g. 800 -900‹ C, in a high tension electric arc. The electric are may be produced in a separate air-heating furnace or in the tuyeres supplying the blast to the furnace (see Group XI).
