[Class 19] A reservoir brush comprises a brush-head, a container for liquid fixed to the brush-head and forming a handle, an air inlet tube passing from the brush-head into the interior of the container and cormnunicating with the outside atmosphere via an opening in the brushhead, a finger-operated valve mounted on the brush-head for controlling the inlet of air into the inlet tube, and a duct in the brush-head passing from the container and delivering liquid into the liquid-applying member of the brush. As shown, the brush-head 1 is detachably fixed to a hollow handle 2 by a screw-threaded stem 3. The brush-head has a liquid conduit 4 in communication with the hollow handle reservoir 12, the conduit also being in communication with a transverse channel 5 leading to a number of conduits 6 discharging into the liquid-applying member 13 which may be made of bristles or sponge rubber. The brush-head also has an air-chamber 7 provided with an air opening 15 and an air pipe 11 passing down the stem of the brushhead and into the hollow handle reservoir 12. Entry of air is controlled by a valve mounted in the air chamber 7; the valve comprises a head 8 which engages a valve washer by the opening 15 in the air chamber 7, and a stem 8a which passes through the opening 15 and carries a finger-piece 9. The valve is normally spring-pressed in the closed position by means of the helical spring provided. On depressing the valve, air enters the reservoir so allowing discharge of the contained liquid to the applying-member 13. A liquid trap 16 may be provided in the air inlet tube 11 to trap any liquid leaking down the tube. The device may be used for applying dye, permanent wave reagents or bleaching liquids to the hair. The Provisional Specification is not limited as regards the provision of a finger-operated valve, it being stated that the air-inflow may be regulated by a valve which can be set to give any desired rate of liquid feed and such valve may also constitute or work in association with a stop-valve.
