Abstract

636,769. Forced flow steam boilers. LA MONT INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION, Ltd., and BOWER, F. W. Sept. 11, 1947, No. 24942. [Class 123(ii)] In a forced-circulation water-tube boiler including an upper steam-and-water drum 1, one or more circulating pumps 3. and several parallel circuits each comprising a number of tubes connected in parallel between lower headers 11, 12, 13 ... and upper headers 23, 24, 25 . . . or the drum 1, some of the said circuits are provided with one or more pressure-reducing orifice plates and/or nozzles for controlling the fluid flow therethrcugh. Thus, in the circuit comprising the pump discharge pipe 36, inlet header 16, parallel tubes 8 and drum 1, an orifice plate 49 is fitted in the pipe 36 adjacent the header 16 and two nozzles 47, 48 are arranged in series at or near the inlet of each of the tubes 8. The circuit including the header 11 is provided only with an orifice plate 41 in the pump discharge pipe 31, and that including the header 17 with two such plates 50, 51. Other arrangements comprise a single nozzle 40 and a pair of nozzles 52. 53 respectively in the tubes 6, 10 associated with the headers 15, 18, and an orifice plate 44 in the pump discharge pipes to the headers 12, 13, 14 with a nozzle 39 in each of the tubes 5 leading therefrom.
