Abstract
623,690. Respiratory appliances. PIRELLI SOC. PER AZIONI. May 13, 1947, No. 12940. Convention date, Jan. 25. [Class 81(ii)] A mask, which enables the wearer to have direct access to the atmosphere when at the surface, comprises a front portion I to which is connected a rigid breathing tube 8, the upper end of which carries a shroud 13 which is closed by a float 11 when the wearer dives below the surface. The float slides on the tube 8 and abuts against a fixed collar in its lower position. Either the shroud may have a perforated closure member at its lower end or it may be mounted on the upper end of the tube 8 which, in this case, is perforated, see Figs. 3, 4 (not shown). In either case the lower edge of the shroud is below the open part of the tube.
