Abstract

612,565. Belt fastenings. STONE, F. J., HALL, G. N., BOWKER, A. A., and STONE & CO., Ltd., J. B. May 27, 1946, No. 16089. [Class 80 (i)] A belt fastening of the hinge type in which each hinge piece comprises a channel-shaped member 10 having peripheral tines or teeth 24, is held in position in the belt by a nut 22 and bolt 18 engaging in conical recesses 14 in the channel walls. The bolt 18 is prevented from rotating by tongues 16 jutting into the recess for the bolt head and engaging diametral slots 20 in the bolt head. In one modification, the teeth 24 are replaced by an inwardly directed peripheral flange. In a second modification, the hinge members are made of double width and are fastened by a pair of bolts or by one bolt and two rivets, as indicated in Fig. 9. Also the hinge members may be kinked as at 31 in Fig. 9 to allow for a smaller hinge pin.
