Abstract
611,566. Steam cooking apparatus. PRESTON, J. de la P. B. May 2. 1946, No. 13261. [Class 28(i)] A steam cooking apparatus comprises a shallow vessel 1 containing water and housing within its base an electric heating element or elements 10, the vessel having a conical or pyramidal cover 6 the angle of the wall or walls of which is such that the water condensing thereon runs down into the vessel and does not drip onto food placed in a dish 4 supported above the water level on a stand 3. A thermostatic element 16 may be provided for controlling the heaters when the water is boiling. Also immersion heaters may be used. The vessel 1 and stand 3 may comprise two or more superposed sections Fig. 2 (not shown) so that two or more dishes may be supported in the apparatus. The sections of the stand may be associated with the sections of the vessel. Alternatively the cover may be divided into frusto-conical sections.
