Abstract

617,567. Hose couplings. KRONE, H. C., and MEYER, W. Oct. 7, 1946, No. 29889. [Class 99 (i)] In a hose coupling the socket 15 is slotted to house one or more radially-movable arcuate latch members 22 adapted to engage a recess 13 in the spigot 12 under the action of a surface 28 in the axially-movable sleeve 27, the latch having a concave spherical surface 23 for easy displacement of the latch by the entering spigot. Conical surfaces 25, 14 on latch and spigot co-operate to compress a U-section gasket 18. A set-screw 30 acts as a limit stop for the sleeve and houses a spring ball detent for holding the sleeve in either of the limiting positions.
