601,781. Cleaning grain and seed. ROOS, S. R. Oct. 19, 1945, No. 27464. [Class 58] [Also in Group II] A machine for removing fungi from grain or seed by means of hot water consists of three equally-inclined intercommunicating cylinders B1, B2, B3 containing screw-type conveyers edged with bundles of horse hair. The grain, fed into cylinder B1 from a funnel A and regulated by a shutter C, is carried through the cylinders by the conveyers with water, fed through a mixing valve L from a heated tank D, and discharged at G. The water flows through the perforated base of the cylinder B3 into a vat J whence after filtering it is pumped to tank D1 for re-use. The cylinders are made of double sheet iron plates with felt between them to maintain constant temperature during washing.
