Abstract
600,755. Guards for motor-vehicle radiators. JENSEN MOTORS, Ltd., and JENSEN, F. A. March 5, 1945, No. 5398. [Class 64(iii)] [Also in Groups XVIII and XXXII] A protective plate 17 for the radiator 11 of a motor vehicle has a plurality of air inlet openings 18 shaped as letters or other indicia and a sheet of perforated metal or wire mesh 23 mounted at the rear side of the plate. The plate 17 is mounted in front of the radiator 11, e.g. in an opening in the vehicle body, and one or more deflectors 13 behind the plate are inclined to the direction of motion of the vehicle to deflect air on to the radiator. The plate 17 and wire mesh 23 are attached at the rear to a rectangular wooden frame 21 with corner brackets 28 carrying rearwardly projecting lugs 29 which engage in openings 15, 16 formed in parts of the vehicle body. The plate also has rearwardly projecting lugs 30 which engage in fastening elements 35 on the vehicle body to hold the plate, wire mesh and frame in position.
