600,649. Open-hearth furnaces. HEUER, R. P. June 26, 1945, No. 24281/46. Divided out of 600,630. [Class 51(ii)] The walls and roofs of open-hearth furnace downtakes are built of chrome ore and/or magnesia bricks, which are engaged with hangers hung or supported from the girder structure of the furnace. Wall bricks 9b have hangers 11b co-operating with special removable castings 60 hooked onto girders at points 62 and roof bricks 9a are suspended by hangers 11a from girder structure 56a. A suitable form of brick and suspension is described in Specification 600,630. Specification 600,650 also is referred to.
