Abstract

600,368. Building - blocks. MORGAN, E. G. Sept. 11, 1946, No. 23882/45. [Class 87(i)] An apertured building-block comprises outer and inner portions 1, 1a having on their upper and lower faces respectively longitudinal projections 2 and corresponding recesses 3, and spaced apart by portions 4, 5 of which one portion 4 projects beyond the end of the block to form a tongue while the other 5 is 'spaced from the end of the block to form a corresponding groove. At least a part 4b, 5b of the upper surfaces and the whole of the lower surfaces 4c (not shown), 5c of the portions 4, 5 are. on a level with the tops of the projections 2 and the lower face 1b of the block respectively to prevent longitudinal movement of the blocks when laid in staggered bond. Mortar or drainage grooves 8 and holes 7 may be provided and the outer face 1d may be inclined, a drip groove 1c being provided. A similar L-shaped block is provided for corners. Half blocks for door and window openings and wall base blocks with drainage gutters are also provided. Specification 600,399 is referred to.
