598,156. Communication platforms. MANUFACTURE DE CAOUTCHOUC MICHELIN, PUISEUX BOULANGER ET CIE. Aug. 31, 1945, No. 22500. Convention date, June 29, 1939. [Class 103 (iv)] A communication platform comprises a telescopic grid like structure formed of horizontal bars 2 of I or web section, alternate bars being pivoted to a transverse tubular member 6 supported in bearings 11 mounted in brackets secured to the end of each carriage: The bars on opposing members 6 interengage and are connected together for relative movement by rods 14 which pass through holes 13, Fig. 5, in the free ends of one set of bars and slide in slots 12 in the webs near the pivoted ends 5 of the other set of. bars, the bars being spaced apart by rubber washers 16 and bearing strips 17. Hinged plates 22 may cover the jointed ends of the bars and be secured to the pivot pins 5, these fixing means also securing a rubber mat which covers the bars ; overlapping plates may replace the rubber mat. One side of the grid may be detached from its bearings and folded flat against the back of the other carriage as shown in Fig. 4. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 also comprises a series of transverse slats 56, Fig. 12 (Cancelled), pivoted to outer longitudinal beams 53 and intermediate beams 58, the end slots 54 being housed in recesses 60, 61 of opposing carriages and extended in the recesses to prevent removal thereof, the beams also rest on bearing strips in the recesses to permit'tilting of the platform and the platform is maintained in a central position between the two carriages by springs. The slats may be covered with rubber &c. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
