597,800. Feeding materials from hoppers. MARCONI INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., and BROCKELSBY, C. F. Aug. 27, 1945, No. 22010. [Class 78(i)] [Also in Groups XXXVI and XXXVIII] Powdered or granular material is fed from a hopper-H on to a pivotal deflector vane V which diverts a constant flow into and through. a condenser-container C for the purpose of measuring the dielectric constant and hence the moisture content of the material. The condenser is carried by a beam B fulcrumed at F and counterpoised by a weight W, spring, electromagnet or other means provided with damping means D such as a dashpot or eddy-current-brake. Any deviation of the average material mass in the condenser rocks the deflector vane V through an adjustable link L and arm A in the corrective sense to maintain constant the flow or time average of the material mass in the condenser.
