Abstract
561,145. Potato-planters. POMIERANIEC, I., and TRANSPLANTERS (ROBOT), Ltd. Sept. 9, 1942, No. 12733. [Class 6 (i)] Two or more rows of potatoes are delivered into drills from a transversely moving conveyer mounted on a frame 1 and driven from the land-wheels 2. As shown, spur-gearing transmits movement to a horizontal wheel 7 having pivoted external peripheral pockets 16 which are tipped by gravity or otherwise to discharge their contents at diametrally-opposite points adjacent to the transverse axis 5. A hopper 30 discharges potatoes into inclined trays 31 from which they are fed by hand into the pockets 16 by operators in the seats 28, 29. Discharge shoots are fixed beneath the pocket-discharge openings ; ground-cutters 22 and drill-openers 21 precede the shoot-exits, which are situated in front of drill-closers 25. The front wall of the hopper 30 may have an adjustable flap to regulate delivery. Fertilizer may be delivered from hoppers 34 to shoots 35, 37, agitators or feeders 36 being situated at the outlet of these hoppers. For road transport the apparatus may be raised relatively to the wheels by depressing the levers 14. Specification 554,174 is referred to.
