Abstract
565,800. Welders' &c. screens. STRONG, J. April 7, 1943, No. 5528. [Class 97 (i)] In a welders' screen comprising a mask portion A provided with an aperture for a protective glass screen F and pivotally mounted, so that it can be tilted upwardly away from the face, on supporting means comprising a flexible and adjustable head band B with a band C connected to it and passing over the head, the mask is formed as an integral whole by pressing to shape a sheet of felt-like or other non-metallic heat-resisting material capable of permanent distortion by pressure or pressure and heat. In the construction shown, the mask is detachably secured at'each side to the head band by means of a resilient channel member d<1> rotatably mounted on a pivot D secured to the mask and slidably engaging between flanges on a plate E secured to the end of the band C. When removed from the head-band, the mask may be held as a shield by means of a handle inserted into a socket H.
