Abstract
553,426. Alloys. CLIMAX MOLYBDENUM CO. April 21, 1942, No. 5354. Convention date, April 7, 1941. [Class 82 (i)] Iron alloys containing molybdenum are made by adding to molten ferrous metal a mixture of an oxide of molybdenum, a carbonaceous binder, and a more active reducing agent which may be one or more of the elements aluminium, silicon, calcium, and magnesium. The mixture may be in the form of briquettes which are preferably highly compressed, and the addition may be made in the ladle or may be part of the furnace charge. The ferrous metal may also contain chromium or vanadium. Specifications 502,295 and 513,604 are referred to.
