[Class 44] A clip for use as a clothes-peg and of the kind provided: with a hook by which the device is suspended on the line comprises a member having an integral hook 2 at one end and a jaw member 3 at the other co-operating with a pivoted spring-loaded jaw member 6, the hook being disposed so that the meeting faces of the jaws between which the clothes are clamped hangs vertically. The jaws may be corrugated to improve the grip and may have recesses 5 to receive a hem &c. or, if the clip is applied to Clamp the article directly on the line, to receive the line and the fold of the article. A pivoted spring- loaded member 9 having a surface 10 which clamps the line in the hook 2 may be provided, to prevent movement of the device along the line. The spring may be lacquered or otherwise coated and the device may be of moulded plastic material. 1. As described one part comprises two side members 1 spaced apart and integrally connected by the hook portion 2, jaw 3, and cross pins 4, 8 serving respectively as fulcra for members 6, 9, which have recesses to receive them. Members 1 have opposed recesses 1a. with projections which retain the ends of a coiled torsion spring 12 the free ends 13, 14 of which bear respectively on arms 7, 11 of members 6, 9. Arm 11 preferably overlies arm 7 as shown so that jaws 3, 6 may be opened by pressure on arm 7 or members 6, 9 may be released simultaneously by pressure on arm 11.
