Abstract

558,875. Spiked plates. STOKES, T. W., and STOKES, W. (trading as AMES, STOKES, STEVENS & SON). Oct. 15, 1942, No. 14439. [Class 89 (ii)] Spiked plates, applicable for purposes such as fixing or corner plates of boxes, coffin handle plates, and door plates, are formed with a number of integral teeth a<1> each having a straight edge a<2> and a curved edge a<3> such that the centre lines of the teeth diverge outwardly from the centre line of the plate. The outer edges a<2> are in line with the edges of the blank from which the spiked plate is formed. On being driven, each tooth splays outwardly from its base and the outer teeth ar thus caused to extend beyond the edges of the blank.
