Abstract
557,780. Photographic processing apparatus. BAKER, T. T. April 15, 1942, No. 4987. [Class 98 (ii)] Photographic processing apparatus for the liquid treatment of large rigid sheets comprises an easel having a support 13 to hold the sheet at a small angle to the vertical, a liquid distributer comprising a perforated tube 14 at the top, a trough 16 at the bottom to receive liquid from the sheet, a sump 18, a thermostatically controlled heater 19 in the sump connected to the trough to receive liquid therefrom, and a pump 20 with a conduit 21 to return liquid from the sump to the distributer. A funnel or reservoir 15 and a filter 17 are provided. The apparatus may be used for developing, fixing and washing. The photographic material may be on supports of metal, wood (e.g. plywood), artificial resins, cast cement, cardboard, or papier mache. The apparatus is used in the darkroom. The sheet may be rough or uneven and may be flat, curved, or irregular. Sensitive emulsion is applied by spraying, and an image from a photographic negative is projected on the sensitive surface in the dry or wet state. After processing, the sheet may be varnished. A wetting agent such as saponin or " Perminal " AW (Registered Trade Mark) and a thickening agent such as glycerol or treacle may be added to the developer. The sump is changed in order to change from one solution to another. Specification 10485/05, [Class 98], is referred to.
