[Class 44] The terminal members of a sliding clasp fastener are secured to the tape by two or more spaced pairs of prongs which grip the tape edge with intermediate portions abutting said edge, the invention being applicable to members formed separately and then clamped in place or cast in situ. Figs. 3, 4 show terminal members for completely separable stringer tapes 10, 11. A " pin" " member 16 on tape 10 has integral extensions with prongs 18 (two pairs shown) spaced similarly to the fastener members. The " box" member 17 on tape 11 has a socket to receive member 16, the socket having a lateral slot 21 to accommodate tape 10. Member 17 also has an integral extension 23 with spaced pairs of prongs 24. Member 16 has a positioning projection 25 co-operating with member 17, and the end prongs 18 have an integral head 19 cooperating with the fastener member 20 in tape 11. Member 17 has a recessed surface 26 against which the correspondingly shaped end of the slider, not shown, strikes. Fig. 6 shows the appli-. cation to a member for permanently connecting the ends of the stringers and comprising a tapering body 36 with lateral pairs of spaced prongs 39, 40. The application to the usual end stops for limiting closing movement of the slider is also described. The invention is shown as particularly applied to fasteners in which the fastener members have inclined prongs or jaws for securing them to the tape as in Specification 539,681.
