536,037. Wheel tyres. COLLINS, C. M., and HENDERSON. W. M. Dec. 14, 1939, Nos. 32216/39 and 14379/40. [Class 144 (ii)] A detachable tread band comprises channelsection plates 2 connected at each side by pairs of links 4, 5 and adapted to rock on wheel-slip so as to cause the leading edges of the shoes to bite into the ground, as shown in Fig. 2. Undue flexing of the device is prevented by the engagement of the transverse parts 2b of the shoes with stop-pins 9 on the links 4, or of the side-arms 2a with the links 5. The inner face of the shoeparts 2b may be formed with a rib 6 and, the ground-engaging face may be covered with friction-material.
