Abstract
526,145. Making foam. ELLEHAMMER, H. F. HANSEN-. March 9, 1939, No..7631. Convention date, March 9, 1938. [Class 47 (ii)] Foam is produced by forcing a mixture of gas and foamforming liquid between the windings of a tightly-wound helical spring. The spring 1 is arranged in a casing 3 having an inlet port 4 for the mixture and an outlet 5 for foam, the spring being secured by its open lower end about the port 4 and being closed at its inner end by a plate 2. The spring is free to elongate under the pressure of the mixture admitted at 4, if desired against the pressure of a spring 7. In modifications, several springs are arranged concentrically or in banks, so that the mixture passes through the springs in series and/or in parallel.
