Abstract

501,325. Catalytic hydrogenation of olefine polymers. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP INTERNATIONALE HYDROGENEERINGS - OCTROOIEN MAATSCHAPPIJ (INTERNATIONAL HYDROGENATION PATENTS CO.). June 13, 1938, No. 17485. Convention date, June 11, 1937. [Class 1 (i)] Liquid olefine polymers boiling within the gasoline range are hydrogenated with the aid of catalysts comprising (a) tungsten and/or molybdenum sulphide together with (b) nickel or cobalt sulphide. Preferred proportions are between 16 and 3 molecular proportions of a and between 3 and 7 of b. A mixture of tungsten disulphide and nickelous sulphide is specified by way of example. The reaction temperature may be 175-275‹ C. and the hydrogen pressure at least 50 atmospheres. Examples relate to the hydrogenation of diisobutene and tri - isobutene. Specification 488,651 is referred to
