Abstract
508,499. Straight-tube heat-exchangers. ZEUTHEN, C., ZEUTHEN, R., and LARSEN, M., (trading as SILKEBORG MASKINFABRIK ZEUTHEN & LARSEN). Dec. 31, 1937, No. 36249. [Class 64 (iii)] In apparatus for pasteurizing milk &c. the milk flows in series through narrow passages provided in the apparatus, while the heating liquid flows over both sides of the passages in counterflow to the milk. In apparatus comprising two superposed sets of concentric tubes disposed in a casing and extending between end headers, the milk flows from the inlet 10 through the annular space between the inner and the intermediate tubes of the lower set of tubes and thence through the corresponding space of the upper set to the outlet 11. The heating liquid, e.g., hot water, is admitted to the casing through the inlet, 1 and flows in part through the annular space between the intermediate and the outer tubes of each set in counterflow to the milk and in part, via pipe bends and the headors, through the centre tubes also in counterflow to the milk.
