[Class 52 (ii)] A seat frame, particularly for vehicle seats has a pair of feet or supports 2, Fig. 1, formed from metal of channel or other flanged section each foot having a base portion 41a from which project upwardly extending portions 42, and a frame 1 secured to the portions 42 and directly supporting the seat proper. In one construction, the open side of the channel section of which the foot is formed is directed downwardly, and inturned flanges 44, 46, Fig. 2. are formed on the upstanding and horizontal parts respectively. A cover strip 43, Fig. 1, is fitted to the front part, while the flange.,; on the base engage with runners 47, Fig. 6, on the floor. The runners 47 have a pressed up rib 48 to which is secured a flat strip 49 ; the flanges 46 are engaged between the edges of the strips 49 and the runners 47. Spring pressed plates 50, Fig. 4; with down turned edges are located in gaps in the plate 49 to press on the flanges 46 to prevent rattle. Means for holding the seat in adjusted position comprise a spring-controlled rod 56 mounted on the base 41a in brackets 55, Fig. 1, and provided with a cranked end 58, Fig. 6, adapted to engage in holes 59, Fig. 4, in a flange formed on the strip 49. The rod may be housed within the channel section of the foot if desired. In an alternative construction, the feet 62, Fig. 8, of the frame are of channel section with the open side directed inwardly and upwardly, and a plate 63 with a central pressed-up rib is secured to the underside of the foot and engages under the inturned flanges 65 of a channel section runner 64. Locking means and means for preventing rattle similar to those described above are provided.
