[Class 136 (i)] [Also in Group XXIV] In a mechanical remote-control device of the type including a primary lever and a secondary lever which may be moved relatively to one another to effect a fine adjustment, the two levers are coupled by a rotatable cam arranged eccentrically with respect to a common axis of the levers and adapted by its rotation to impart the desired relative movement to the levers for effecting the fine adjustment. A primary lever 3 is pivoted at 4 to a sector 5 and is actuated by a knob on a part 7 screwing over an extension 6 of the lever. At the side of this lever is a secondary lever 9, 10 also pivoted at 4. The lower part 10 of this lever is connected to the part to be controlled and the upper part 9 has a slot 17 the sides of which contact with an eccentric 16 the spindle 13 of which is journalled in the lever 3 and is rotatable by a milled head 14. For a coarse adjustment, both levers are moved together by the knob ; for a fme adjustment a locking nut 18 is loosened and the head 14 and eccentric 16 rotated and after adjustment locked together again. The head 14 may be replaced by a lever the neutral position of which is parallel to the primary lever. Where the coarse adjustment is movable by steps, e.g. ratchet teeth and pawl, the fine adjustment may permit movement on either side up to or just beyond the extent of a division. The lever may be released from and locked to the sector 5 by unscrewing and screwing up the part 7 which acts in conjunction with a saddle 8. The invention is not restricted to manually actuated means. The invention may be applied to the control of a carburetter, to adjustment of apparatus in wireless telegraphy, and to control of variable-pitch airscrews.
