Abstract

499,539. Drying vegetables. GLEN, A. S. Jan. 4, 1938, No. 234. [Class 34 (ii)] Vegetable substances such as coconut are dried by subjection in a closed container to preheated non-circulatory air under a pressure of about 100 pounds to the square inch for a predetermined period of time, e.g. 20 minutes; the air pressure may be increased to 150-200 pounds to the square inch, is suddenly released, and the material is removed. The container 5 has a door 6, compressed air inlets 7, 9, air outlets 10, 11 a safety valve 12, pressure gauge 8 and thermometer 13.
