Abstract
494,105. Ornamenting. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., SCOTT, W. J., and ANDERSON, J. T. April 20, 1937, No. 11289. [Class 93] [Also in Group XX] Luminescent substances are attached to a support by cementing with a colloidal suspension of silica in a vaporizable medium, such as a colloidal suspension of silica in alcohol. The silica compound may be applied by spraying, brushing, wiping or pouring and the powder dusted on ; or alternatively a suspension of the luminescent powder in the colloidal silica compound may be applied. As soon as the mixture has become tacky, the surface is heated, e.g. to 300‹ C., to drive off the vaporizable medium.
