Abstract

487,562. Roller-way conveyers. KRUPP GRUSONWERK AKT.-GES., F. Sept. 21, 1937, No. 25614. Convention date, Nov. 14, 1936. [Classes 78 (i) and 78 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] Billets are conveyed from one roller bed 1, Fig. 1, coming from a heating furnace, to another 5 running in the same direction at some distance from it by trolleys 2 moving perpendicularly to the roller beds and capable of being raised and lowered. The trolleys are moved by an endless chain or rope 11 driven by a wheel 12 and guided by pulleys 13, 14, 15. Each trolley 2 has a pair of front wheels 7 running on rails 3 and a single rear wheel 8 formed as a double cone running on a V-shaped rail 4, Fig. 2. Beneath the roller bed 1 the wheels 7, 8 rest in depressions 9, 10 in the rails so that the platform 6 of the trolley is below the level of the bed. When the wheels leave the depressions, the trolley rises and lifts a billet from the rolls. At the end of its travel, the billet is lifted off the trolley by rocking arms 17 fixed to a shaft 18, the billet first sliding up against projections 16 thereon and then tilting over through 180 degrees to fall on the platform 20 of a trolley 21 which is connected by a rod 25 and crank 26 to the shaft 18, so that the trolley moves towards and away from the shaft 18 as the arms 17 rise and fall. The trolley 21 is raised to receive the billet from the arms by its wheels 22 leaving depressions 23 in rails 24, and is lowered, when it returns to its position of rest, to'deposit the billet on the roller bed 5. An adjustable guide strip 27 positions the deposited billet centrally in the bed 5. The impact of the billet, falling from the arms 17, with the platform 20 loosens the scale from the rolled material. If the billet is not to be overthrown, the conveying trolleys 2 will run within the range of the roller bed 5 and be lowered to deposit the rolled material.
