484,369. Regulating flow of fluids. RHEINMETALL - BORSIG AKT. - GES. WERK BORSIG BERLIN-TEGEL. June 17, 1937, No. 16840. Convention date, June 26, 1936. [Class 135] An expansion device, particularly for gases or liquids under high pressure as used in the synthetic production of benzine and ammonia, consists of a cylindrical stem 1, which is provided with annular grooves 9 and is arranged with a slight clearance in a bore 7 along which it is adjustable to render less effective some of the grooves 9 by bringing them opposite a part of the bore provided with longitudinal grooves 10. The stem also carries a valve cone 16. The distances between the grooves 9 may increase towards the outlet 19. The grooved member 1 may be made conical and may also be built up of separate elements.
